Using the general topic that you've chosen for your WebQuest, brainstorm at least two authentic problems that you could use to develop a WebQuest. Briefly explain why these are useful authentic problems for your chosen topic.

My topic for my webquest is biology
1. Maintaining plant life in a greenhouse is an authentic webquest problem. People do have to take care of plants in real life. It might be something that most younger students don't know much about, so they can learn things they can use in real life.
2. Another authentic problem could deal with life cycles. the student could learn about how life cycles around them affect them personally.
My topic is classroom pet.
1. Knowing what your pet eats is an authentic webquest problem. when students get pet for their own house, they need to learn what kind of foods to feed their pet to better help them survive.
2. Another Authentic problem would be housing. Student's need to know the best atmosphere for their pet. IF they got a fish, they would need to know that the fish needs to live in water, because it can't live without water.
The topic for my web quest is weather, and the different types of clouds.
1. I think that having the kids learn what the different clouds are and what weather they cause will be important to learn in deciding what to wear to school. So I will ask the kids about different activities they would go to, and ask them what they would wear to be comfortable in the weather. I think that this is authentic, because they will use this skill for the rest of their lives because they always will need to know how to dress appropriately for the weather, and how it affects them.
2. I think another authentic problem would be to have them learn about clouds and what they are made out of, and how the clouds impact the weather. This is important for them to understand so they know about the world around them, and the impact that clouds play in the weather.
The topic for my WebQuest is nutrition.
1. The first authentic problem is finding healthy foods. Our country has become the most obese country in the world, which leads to more health problems. One of the best things that people can do to prevent this is to eat a healthy, balanced diet.
2. Another authentic problem is finding a variety of foods. Many of us, myself included, find a few foods that we like and tend not to try new foods very often. Giving the students the opportunity to explore different foods can give them more options for putting together a healthy diet.
My Webquest topic is History:
1. An authentic problem would be to research about different religions, in order to find out why people do the things they do. This could help students be more open minded and accepting of each other.
2. Research about what it means to be a citizen, in regards to voting, polls, and educating yourself on the issues.
My topic is going to be outer space.
1. Going on a "scavenger hunt" to different planets. This way they can learn detail about each specific planet like, name, location from the sun, the physical properties (size, solid/gaseous etc), these are specified in the core curriculum.
2. An object is moving toward earth, and they have to use manmade satelites from earth and other planets to identify whether it is a comet, asteroid, or meteor. The problem istelf might not be authentic, but this is also informtaion that the curriculm requires they know.
My topic for WebQuest is Lightening
1. Knowing how and when lightening forms is an authentic webquest problem. This will help students not only predict when lightening will occur, it will also help them predict what type of weather is coming. This will in turn help them know when to get inside or find shelter.
2. Another problem would be to tell them about different types of lightening (ex. cloud to cloud, or cloud to ground) and explain why this happens. This will allow them to know what lightening is dangerous and which ones will not hit the ground.
My webquest topic is Insects:
1. The children will be learning about the classifications of insects: clearing up common misconceptions about what is and what is not an insect. it will help them to look deeper into the classification process, as well as name and label common parts of the bodies of insects.
2. Some insects may be scary or gross or dangerous to some people (bees or flies). But we will be delving deeper into the positive outcomes of certain insects and why they are, in fact, necessary for certain things to occur on this earth and/or how they can be beneficial to human life.
My topic for my webquest is ancient Egypt.
1. Discovering how different cultures lived is an authentic problem in the fact that it teaches them why certian cultures around the world do certian things.
2. Another authentic problem could be the religion. It shows where different religions and beliefs came from. And may help the student to understand different religions and why they exist.
My webquest is on the American Revolution.
1. Having students "interview" American Revolutionists will help them not only learn about the AR but also develop the skills that it takes to do creative writing.
2. Having students research before they write a paper will help them be more familiar with the process when they get into the upper grades when they are required to do research papers. Having them "interview" a person from the past just makes it a little more interesting to research about
My topic for my webquest is biology
1. Determine why you would need to know what blood type you are. Women who are having babies need to know if they are positive or negative, both for the health of their unborn baby and themselves.
2. What type of inherited diseases could you have that would block you from donating blood?
I wish that I would have thought of these suggestions before I made my webquest.
1. They are preparing for a manned mission to Mars. What equipment would they need to bring and why?
2. The earth will have a collision with a meteor. What problems will that cause and how could we prepare for it?
1. How can we learn to save the animals of our plannet?
2. Why is it important to save the animals of our plannet?
Problems that are potential were how to design the web quest so that students can answer the question. And what to incorperate in it.
